Sunday Prayers

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, Holy, Holy,
Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons,
Blessed Trinity!

Words by Reginal Heber 1783-1826

To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.  He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.
He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes. Deuteronomy 10:14, 17-18, 21  (for the full passage of Deuteronomy 10:12-22)

Most Holy Father,
This is the first Sunday of this new year and we come to you in awe of who you are.  There is truly none like you in all the universe and we desire to praise you.  Lord, all things belong to you and they are yours to be used as you desire to use them.  Lord, I bring before you the people of France and all the beauty of this land, and all of the natural resources that you have given to them.  I acknowledge that you own everything in this land.  I ask that you use these same resources to bring people to know who you are and to hear your voice.  Lord, I pray that the people of France will see that you show no partiality and you defend the cause of the fatherless and the widows, love the alien, and care for their needs.  Lord, I pray that you will become the praise or our lips and  that we will hear your voice this year as you knock.  Please Lord, knock on the doors of France.  In the name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord.  Amen.
