Sunday Prayers

Matthew 5:3-10
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Lord, let us be people who know that we are in need of you and our spirit is week.  I ask that our hearts break over the condition of this world and that we be strong your meekness.  Let us hunger and thirst after Your righteousness as we show your mercy to all.  Lord, we desire to be pure in heart  like you.  We need to live peaceably with all men the best we can, so please help us to be your children.  We know that this life style is counter to the way the world lives, so our actions and attitudes will not be accepted and many of us will be persecuted, for they persecuted you.  Lord, we desire to live this blessed life and we know that we can do all things through You who strengthen us each and every day.  We love you Lord Jesus our Christ, and we pray in your precious name.  Amen
