What is French?

Over the last 4 years I have been reading and studying about France and the people who make what is french.  What is portrayed to us is that truly french or is there something else that makes France french?  As I have read history and stories from the past the desire for individual rights and freedoms seems to be important, but does that make someone french?  When we were in France on holiday I found that many people had a critical spirit and not much patience with us as visitors, yet I have grown to love all that is French.  There are many things one might contribute to making something French, but I think my prayer is that all people who live in France will see that they are created by God, loved by Him, sins can be forgiven, freedom for each individuals, and  a citizenship in God's kingdom is available. God made them French, because He loved them enough to provide them a place to learn about Him.

Father,
I thank you for all the things that makes France french.  There are many wonderful and beautiful things about the people, their history and culture, but like all cultures sin has scarred the beauty You created.  Father, I pray for the people of France that they will see and believe in You as their Creator and Savior.  Lord, I pray that they will see Your love and desire to turn from their independence and rely on You.  Lord, please bring France back to the Your creation of France.  We pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen
