Astana Pro Team

Today we pray for the Team named after the capital city of Astana Kazakhstan.  This city has had a building boom in the last 15 years.  They forecast the city to reach in the millions in the next 15 years.  These are the faces of the people of the steppe.  Islam, Russian Orthodox, and Jewish are some of the main beliefs in this area.  Pray for this region of the world.


Astana began the tour with a cloud of suspicion  hanging over their heads.  So we pray for fair play through out the race.
Lord, we pray for the riders of Astana, over the next 3 weeks.  We pray that as they ride through the Tour they will hear about your saving grace and ask you to be Lord of their lives.  Lord, we pray for their families and all who hold them dear.  Lord keep them safe as they pedal their way to Paris.
 We pray all these things in the name of Jesus.  Amen

Team Astana

Team Astana rides for the nation of Kazakhstan.  They are working to have a pro-tour soon in Kazakhstan. The population as of January 2008 was about 15.6 million second most-populated country in Central Asia. There are about 47% Sunni Muslim, 44% Russian Orthodox, 2%Protestant, and the other religions make up 7%.  Pray that many on this team will become the light of Christ in Kazakhstan.  Pray not only for the salvation of the team members but also their families.  Let us pray that the word of God will be a light to those who are lost in darkness. 

Lord, we pray for the nation and the people of Kazakhstan.  We ask that the word of God will become the light of this nation.  We pray that as your light shines it will grown until the darkness is chased away.  Jesus, we believe that you came to save us through your death on the cross and give us life through your resurrection.  Lord, we ask that salvation will come to many on team Astana, allow your light to shine in their lives.  We pray all these things in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Team Astana is a team from Kazakhstan.  There team leader is Alexander Vinokourov from Kazakhstan.  This will be his last tour.  When you pray for Astana remember to pray for the country of Kazakhstan and for the believers in that nation.  Pray for their freedom to worship  and the effectiveness of their witness.  Persecution.com has an article about the restrictions that are happening against the churches in Kazakhstan. 

Lord,
we thank you for this honor to bow before you on the behalf of the believers in Kazakhstan.  We pray that they will have the freedom to worship you each day.  Lord, provide for them places to meet in public.  Thank you for each pastor and their families.  Protect them as they serve you.  Open hearts to hear the message of grace they will bring to the people in their communities.  We pray for the growth and witness of each believer.  We look forward to watching team Astana compete in the tour and we pray that as they are in France they will hear about You.  Bring people around this team who know you and are willing to share their personal faith with each team member. 
We pray all these things in the name of Jesus, our Lord.

Team Astana

Astana will be interesting to watch.  Everyone is talking about Contador and Lance but I wonder if we should be talking about Contador and Alexander Vinokourov.  I know that Contador is their GC guy but Vinokurov has been their main man in the past and he is a strong rider who wants to win very badly.  I will be watching these two to see who the team works for.  

Kazakhstan, is a republic south of Russia and east of China. In 1994, some 47 percent Muslim (Sunni branch), 44 percent Russian Orthodox, 2 percent Protestant (mainly Bap-tist), with smaller numbers of Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, and Jewish believers. Kazakhstan is has a secular government and are trying to avoid the problems of their neighbors to the south. 

Lord, thank you for the country of Kazakhstan and the team of Astanna.  I pray that as the cyclist ride the tour today and come to the Côte de la Croix de l'Arbre, the hill of the wooden cross, I pray that they will see their need of you.  Lord, I know that you show yourself to us everyday and we are to busy to see or choice not to see.  Lord, I pray that the people of Kazakhstan will hear your gospel story and believe.  Thank you for your cross on a hill, we would be lost without it.  I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
